Uttaranchal is known as Deve Bhoomi (Land of Lords). Every stone in Uttaranchal depicts a story which is related to the Gods. Move a mile ahead and you will find a temple in the beautiful valley of the river Ganga, yamuna or you can see it on top of a hill with the greenery surrounding it.
Be it Tungnath surrounded by Bugyaal or Rudranath surrounded by beautiful flowers spread all over the nature.
Among these temples 5 temples of Lord Kedar (Shiva) are famous and this is written in the Puranas(Hindu Religious Books), if one visits to all these temples, he will be free from rebirth and will find Moksha.
Five Kedar’s are :-
1. Kedarnath
2. Rudranath
3. Tunganath
4. Madmaheshwar
5. Kalpeshwar
All the above temples are related to Pandava’s and a story about the same is famous in hindu’s.
When the battle of Mahabharata was over, Pandavas were looking for blessings of Lord Shiva, but Lord Shiva was running from them when they reached at the top of Himalaya (now Kedarnath), Lord Shiva formed himself into a Bull and dived into the ground. Now his different part appeared in different places and each of the place was known as a Kedar.
