The mainstay of the economy of Himachal Pradesh is tourism. It can be developed as the absolute hub of adventure tourism in India. In line with the same chief minister Virbhadra Singh, has stated that Chanshal slopes would be developed for skiing and connected with ropeways to promote winter sports and tourism activities in the area.
At 4520 m above the sea level, the Chanshal Pass is open from May to October. To begin with road construction through Chanshal heights had been completed, making the Dodra Kwararea more accessible.
Kalgah Pattan was also being explored from the tourism point of view. This is likely to bring much direct and indirect employment for the local people. Of course, ecological safe guards must be kept in mind before developing any of these areas.
With the Alps melting, skiers will be looking at good skiing options in other parts of the world. Himachal Pradesh can cash in on the same.
