The Dussehra festival is also well-known as Vijayadashami. This is one of the most far and wide famous festivals of India. In accordance with the Ramayana, one of the Hindu’s pious scriptures, Lord Rama performed the chandi puja to request the blessings of Goddess Durga for taking life or (killing) Ravana.
Ravana, the demon who had ten heads, was a king of Lanka who had abducted Lord Rama’s wife Sita. Thus, Dussehra also symbolizes the victory of good over evil and the ending of the kingdom of Lanka.
Goddess Durga blessed Rama and let him see the way to take life of or kill the demon Ravana. Lord Rama killed demon Ravana successfully and returned to his kingdom Ayodhya along with his younger brother Laxmana and wife on the auspicious day of ‘Diwali’, which is also one of most celebrated festivals of the Hindus. Throughout the northern India, for almost ten days, this scene Ramlila, with actors dressed as Rama and the others, is enacted with lots of pomp and show.
Dussehra is regarded as one of the most propitious days of the year. It is beyond doubt thought that any new work, began on this auspicious day, is definitely going to be unbeaten and successful. That is why; a few of the most essential early development are taken in hands on this day. Whether it is a new commercial establishment or a new job, Dussehra is the perfect day.
