Cricky!!!! Every body loves Steve Irwin, the brand name in Australian Conservation.

The Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary has opened its new crocodile research centre, Steve Irwin Crocodile Rehabilitation and Research Centre in Kerela India. It is the first case of a State ’s forest and wildlife department , a government body in the world honoring him in this way. In Australia the road leading to his Australia zoo has been renamed after him. The Centre covers 2.5 hectares of land at a cost of Rs. 5 lakh, with marsh and mugger crocodile from the subcontinent.

Known to T.V viewers as Crocodile Hunter his wildlife conservation documentaries were a hit in 137 countries.
Sir David Attenborough praised him and said, He taught them how wonderful and exciting it was, he was a natural communicator.
Steve died last year filming sea creatures when a string ray barb pierced his heart His death made headlines around the world and the Australian PM called his Australia proud son.
Wildlife was a way of life for him when he got a 12 foot scub python on his sixth birthday and wrestled his first crocodile under supervision at nine. He ran the Australia zoo with his family and filmed for Animal Planet, The Croc files, New Breed Vets etc.
Irwin bought large tracts of land in Australia, Fiji, Vanuatu and United States which he described as his national parks to encourage people into making a difference. He founded the Wildlife Warrior World wide and International Crocodile Rescue. He discovered a new species of turtle off Queensland coast which was named Irwin’s Turtle (Elseya Irwin).He will always be remembered fondly, wearing his trademark kaki shorts, Australian slant accent and the catchphrase, Crickey!
