Northeastern states have lots of natural treasures to show on world tourism map but lack marketing on broad terms making it paralyzed. The Channels like Discovery and National Geographic should be tempted to harness the beauty and attract more tourists, the views were expressed by Parvez Dewan, Chairman of India Tourism Development Corporation in Shillong. Dewan was addressing a seminar here on “Infrastructure Development”.

He said:

A half hour show on the caves in Meghalaya will attract more international tourists than spending a few lakh rupees on advertisements.

He emphasized that tourists should be convinced to visit the interiors of States and festivals as in North India could also be organised here.
