Housing more than half the population of One-Horned Rhino’s in the world, Kaziranga National Park is seeing a flood of tourists this season.

November to April is the best time to visit this national park. Last season there were about 77000 tourists of which 5000 were foreigners. This time the management is hoping for an even greater inflow.

The various species found here include Elephants, Capped Langur, Hollock Gibbon, Deer, Jackals, Indian Bison, Leopard and also a large variety of birds. The large rhino population ensures that tourists get to see at least a few rhinos plus it has a diverse range of other species, thus making it a tourist haven.

The recent bombings in Assam does not seem to have affected the tourist flow.
This National Park is a source of livelihood for most of the locals. They are involved in the various activities of the park from transport to providing accommodations for the visitors. The nearest air stop is the airport of Jorhat at a distance of 97km while the nearest rail stop is Furkating which is 75 kms away. The Guwahati airport is 239 km away. Buses and taxis are available from these places.
