This is in time with it’s launching the campaign, Visit Malaysia Year 2007. The Indian edition of ‘Visit Malaysia Year 2007′ was launched here by Malaysia Tourism Minister Atuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor in Hyderabad. Malaysian Tourism Department also launched `Malaysian kitchen’ at a restaurant, `Little Penang’, in the city to reveal the gastronomic heritage of Malaysia. The investment would be done through Tourism Malaysia’s subsidiary Pempena. The aim of the programme is to promote popular destinations through the cuisine palate. After Hyderabad it hopes to start sister restaurants in Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore. Visit Malaysia Year 2007 Mr. Mansor also announced that Visit Malaysia-2007, marking the 50th year of independence of the country, would be a mega event featuring 240 events, 50 of them being the most exciting ones for tourists. Stating that Malaysia was a `value for money’ destination, he said that it was a shopper’s paradise. `Eye of Malaysia’, a 60-metre high Ferris wheel providing a panoramic view up to 20-km distance; `Colours of Malaysia’ highlighting the multi-traditional society; an international aerospace exhibition and KL international busker festival were among the highlights of the golden jubilee celebrations of the country’s nationhood, he said. ‘Visit Malaysia Year 2007′, is to be a year-long celebration to mark the South East Asian country’s 50th year of independence, is aimed at attracting 20.1 million tourists, including four lakh from India.
