The Punjab government on Sunday announced to convert all historical buildings and monuments into the heritage hotels, a government’s move to promote tourism in the state. Preservation of the buildings: It is a welcome step on the part of the Punjab government to look after the invaluable heritage. Buildings more than hundred years old will be preferred under the scheme. The state government has also given the assurance of money, and directed to upgrade the buildings with renovation work, if necessary. The up gradation of the buildings: Therefore, the bid will help some of the dilapidated and neglected buildings to have renovation that they badly need. It will bring the historical buildings of the state to the limelight. The project will also attract the attention of the tourist and will fetch some handsome money to the tourism department of the state.
