The 12th five-day Puri beach festival is started off with the enthralling performances of local artists. The inaugural dances were performed by artists from Bhubaneswar, Puri and Ganjam. It is one of the few beaches in India that experiences huge tourist population.
For the last 12 years, the festival has been witnessing increasing number of domestic and foreign tourists and now festival’s organizer, the tourism ministry, Hotel and Restaurant Association of Orissa (HARO) are enthused to promote it as an international fiesta. 
J K Mohanty, Chairman of Hotel and Restaurant Association of Orissa(HARO) said:
The most important aspect of the festival is to set a revival process for the dying art and tradition and showcase them to the international community... Lot of international artists are interested to participate in the festival and the tourism and cultural department is making arrangements to make it an international event from next year.
For the next five days artists from Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Goa, Rajasthan, West Bengal and other States would also show their state’s folk and traditional dances. In addition, modern songs and dances are also promoted in this annual extravaganza.
