Himachal Pradesh is always an attraction for the tourists from both India and from abroad. Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation is a pioneer Govt. Agency to develop & promote tourism in the State.Various sports in the state is attracting large number of adventure tourists.
Himachal Pradesh has emerged as a major focus for river rafting or white water rafting. The State hosted the India Rafting Cup in 2004 & 2005. Recently 4th International Rafting Championship was held in which several rafters from India and foreign countries participated.
River rafting started 3-4 years ago and is playing a significant role in promoting tourism. The Sutlej River has become a hot destination for the adventure tourists to participate in river rafting. The slowdown in tourist activities in Jammu and Kashmir has made Himachal Pradesh the popular and alternate tourist destination.
More than three million domestic and foreign tourists are visiting the state annually.

The point is that the government has only plans. It has many plans like rural tourism, developing a temple circuit, adventure sports etc. But it’s not marketing it well. And that’s the point I’m exactly harping on. I even have a suggestions for the government that it needs to badly brand itself. I’ve dealt with it comprehensively
