The biggest rose show in the country, earlier known as Festival of Gardens gets underway. The Zakir Rose garden, is the venue of the Rose festival and has beautiful displays of different varieties of roses. This year over 500 varieties of roses are blooming at the garden. The varieties of the flower this year is almost a 100 more than last year.


This three-day festival is intended to encourage people to stroll through the Rose Garden and enjoy the sight of the blooms. The Administration has also disallowed commercial stalls at the festival this time.


In keeping with the tradition of dedicating a new garden every year on the first day of the festival, Rodrigues will inaugurate ‘Poinsettia & Ixora Garden’ at Sector 11.


Another competition formed a beautiful aspect of this festival. Over 300 artistes from various States including Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharasthra, Punjab and Uttaranchal gave compelling dance performances.

Various events, including Flower Arrangement Competition, Painting competition, Rose Prince & Rose Princess, Photography Competition, Rose Quiz and Antakshri competition are being organized during this festival followed by the cultural evenings on all the three days. The Prize distribution function will be held on the concluding day at 3.30 PM.


A Kumar Sanu Night on Saturday and Hans Raj Hans Evening on Sunday, the other high points of the festival are awaited with much anticipation.
