
The 4th International White-Water Rafting Championship has begun in the picturesque town of Pandua in Himachal Pradesh. Several rafters from India and abroad are battling it out on the River Sutlej.
In all there are 12 teams participating in the championship, which includes two foreign teams (from Australia and Slovakia), three teams from Indian Army and one from Indian Air Force.
Most awaited and risky events in the Championship:
•Raft Sprint
•Head-to-head
•Knockout race held over 100 meters of river space.
•Downriver Raft which involves the challenge of navigating a tough 15 kilometers downstream.
It’s a three-day event dubbed as the India Cup, which will provide an excellent opportunity to rafters ahead of the forthcoming World Rafting Championship and other international championships of repute.
