India lives in the villages and if I am not wrong then Indian villages well represent the true Indian culture. Recognizing this identity, tourism ministry has traced 36 hamlets across 20 states all round the country, in order to unearth rural culture of our country. The information regarding bookings and trips for foreign travelers is available at ministry’s website.

Tourists will be accustomed with some traditions and rituals like, how the village’s Surpanches take decisions at village’s chaupal, (a baithak, sitting space), give tourists chances to perform with local artists in their folk dances, a chance to make baajra rotis( still popular in Rajasthan), a safari on camel cart, an evening of bonfire and hukkah (hubble-bubble) with villagers.

Chloe Sharpe a tourist from UK said:

A lot of tourists do want to see how the countryside of India looks like. They don’t went to just see the sites, they want to see the culture as well.

However, we cannot deny the fact that villages do not represent the modern face of India, but the essence of Indian diversity lies in the far-flung undeveloped corners of our country. It is undoubtedly a good move of tourism department that will not only help to boost tourism in India but will also give a bounce back to the economy of Indian villages and generate more employment.
