Indians wishing to visit United States would now pay 30 percent lesser visa fee and get their visa appointment within a week.
David C Mulford, US Ambassador in India, said in new Delhi that the new amendments were the part of restructuring the system and make it more convenient for Indian nationals.
The visa issuance fee of $50 has been waived off for all non-immigrants visas, he added.
Seemed hopeful, Mulford said he expects it triggers more Indian industrialists an d tourists to travel to America.
However, visa aspirants still have to pay an application fee of US $100 at a designated HDFC bank branch.
Earlier, it had to take around 6 months and the new announcement will please Indian visa seekers intending to travel US.
