The sacred ghats also have famous or pious beliefs akin to it as immersion of the ashes of the dead in the ghats makes the dead one soul eternal and gives him/her peace afterlife, and the incarnation of dead man is widely rampant among the Hindus.

Dasaswamedh Ghat: one of the oldest ghats of Varanasi dating back to many thousand years and the main ghat of Varanasi, which literally stands for the ghat of ten sacrificed horses.
Manikarnika Ghat: an ancient ghat next only in significance to Dasaswamedh ghat, and the main cremation ghat of Varanasi. This ghat is regarded as symbolizing both creation and destruction.
Man Mandir Ghat: erected by Maharaja of Jaipur, houses a 18th century observatory fitted with ornate window casings.
Asi Ghat: the southernmost ghat of Varanasi lying at the confluence of the rivers Ganga and Asi is the beautiful ghat of Varanasi.
Lalita Ghat: A ghat on the northern part, and popular for Ganga Keshava Temple, which is a wooden temple constructed in typical Kathmandu style.
